St. Clair County, Illinois

St. Clair County is located in Southwest Illinois; and is the oldest county in Illinois. It is named for Arthur St. Clair, a general during the American Rrvolution.
The seat and largest city are both Belleville. The county is bordered by the Mississippi River to the west.
St. Clair County borders Madison, Clinton, Washington, Randolph and Monroe Counties in Illinois; as well as St. Louis County in Missouri.
In addition, St. Clair County borders the Independent City of St. Louis in Missouri.
Main highways include I-55, I-64, I-70, I-255, US-40, US-50, IL-3, IL-4 and IL-13.
